How Lamphouse handles your Plex sign-in, your server's data, advertising and the Remove ads purchase.

Lamphouse is an independent app for keeping an eye on your own Plex Media Server: who is watching, what they are watching and how each stream is playing. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Lamphouse for Android. Lamphouse is made by Wooden Amethyst. Contact [email protected] with any privacy question.

Lamphouse is not affiliated with or endorsed by Plex, Inc.

Your Plex sign-in and server data

You sign in on Plex's own website, so Lamphouse never sees your Plex password. The access that Plex grants is stored only on your phone, encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore that never leaves the device.

Lamphouse talks directly to plex.tv to sign you in and list your servers, and directly to your Plex Media Server to show what is playing. That information, including the titles being watched and the names of viewers and devices, stays on your phone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. We run no servers, and we receive none of it.

Advertising

When Lamphouse is connected to a server, it shows one sponsored card at the end of the Overview screen. It never appears in sample mode. The card is provided by Google AdMob.

Ads in Lamphouse are never personalised, and Lamphouse does not use the Android advertising ID. To show an ad, measure it and prevent fraud, Google's advertising software collects and shares:

  • your device's IP address, which can indicate its approximate location
  • how you interact with the ad and the app, such as taps and launches
  • diagnostic information, such as app performance
  • device identifiers, such as the app set ID

Lamphouse tells Google nothing about your Plex server, your media or your viewers.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before the first ad, and you can change it at any time with Privacy choices in Lamphouse's Settings. Google explains how it uses this information in its privacy policy and at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Remove ads

Remove ads is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy, and we never see your payment details. Lamphouse only receives confirmation from Google Play that the purchase belongs to your Google account, and keeps that on your phone so the sponsored card stays hidden.

Analytics and tracking

Lamphouse includes no analytics, crash reporting or tracking service other than Google's advertising software described above.

Keeping and deleting your information

What Lamphouse keeps on your phone stays there until you disconnect in Settings, which removes your sign-in and server details, or until you uninstall the app. Lamphouse leaves its data out of Android's device backups. We hold no information about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. For information Google collects for advertising, use the controls described in Google's privacy policy.

Security

Lamphouse connects to Plex and to your server only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and it refuses servers whose security certificates cannot be trusted.

Children

Lamphouse is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
