UpKeep is a Magic: The Gathering collection and deck app from Wooden Amethyst. Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests about your account.

Your personal workspace

You can use UpKeep without signing in. Your collections, decks, notes, purchases, profile, selected avatar, saved activity and preferences are stored on your device. Initial card recommendations are generated locally from card information and independently written synergy rules. Eligible UpKeep community statistics may also be read from the hosted service. Generating suggestions does not upload your decks.

Card artwork viewed during normal use is cached on your device. The cache allowance in Settings controls how much artwork is retained before older cached images are removed. Cached artwork is replaceable and may also be reclaimed by iOS.

Sign in with Apple

If you choose to sign in, Apple authenticates you and Supabase manages your UpKeep account and session. This can include your Apple account identifier and the name or email address you choose to share. UpKeep does not receive your Apple password. App authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.

Signing in does not automatically enable iCloud Backup.

Optional iCloud backups

When you enable iCloud Backup, UpKeep saves your personal workspace to Apple's private CloudKit storage for the iCloud account on your device. This requires both app sign-in and an available iCloud account. Your UpKeep account and device iCloud account are checked separately.

Backups include the personal information needed to restore your workspace. Downloadable card catalogues, artwork caches, authentication tokens and device-specific consent settings are excluded. UpKeep normally retains the latest backup and three earlier versions. Additional versions may be protected while another device or an unresolved restore needs them.

A newer or conflicting cloud save is presented for review before restoration. Turning off backups or signing out does not delete existing saves.

Optional popularity contributions

“Contribute to trending cards” is off by default. If you enable it, UpKeep sends viewed card identifiers to produce aggregate popularity counts. The submitted samples contain no account or device identifier. Network providers still receive normal connection information, such as your IP address.

Turning this setting off discards queued samples and stops future submissions. It does not remove contributions already included in aggregate counts. This consent setting is not restored from a backup.

Optional deck contributions

You can separately choose to contribute a complete Commander deck to UpKeep's community recommendations. This requires app sign-in. Submissions contain card identities, main/commander board assignments and quantities, linked to your UpKeep account and a deck identifier. They exclude your deck name, notes, collection, purchases, card finishes and iCloud saves. They do not publish a deck page.

Each account contributes at most one vote per card and commander. Only aggregate statistics for at least 20 contributors are publicly readable. Different printings share the same card identity. When there are too few contributors or the service is unavailable, the app uses local rule-based suggestions.

Edits to a contributed deck are queued on this device. Deleting it or making it incomplete queues withdrawal. Pending choices are stored locally and retried when you next open the app online or choose Retry. Device consent and this operational queue are excluded from personal-save backups. Changes on another device require a fresh review when they conflict.

You can withdraw through the deck's Contribute to recommendations screen. Hosted account deletion also removes its submissions. Aggregate statistics are recalculated by the daily job, so a withdrawal may take until the next successful refresh to appear in recommendations. Contributions remain until you withdraw them or delete the hosted account.

Network services

UpKeep uses Apple for sign-in and iCloud storage; Supabase for app accounts and shared app data; Cloudflare for catalogue delivery; and Scryfall for card information, artwork and reference prices. Currency estimates use European Central Bank reference rates supplied through Frankfurter. Preconstructed deck information uses MTGJSON.

News feeds, external deck services and links connect to their respective providers when you use those features. These providers may receive your IP address and ordinary request information. Their own privacy policies apply to their services. Network requests use HTTPS.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

Exporting and removing information

Settings → Import/Export lets you export a collection or a complete personal save. Exported files remain wherever you choose to save or share them.

Personal-data erasure lets you choose app-managed data on this device, app-managed iCloud saves, or both. Removing your hosted UpKeep account is a separate choice. Other devices, exports you saved elsewhere and Apple's device backups are not erased by these actions. If an erasure is interrupted, the app identifies remaining work so you can retry it.

Local data remains until you erase it or remove the app. Cloud saves remain until you erase them or they are rotated under the backup retention policy. Retention of ordinary service logs is also subject to each provider's settings and policies. We do not promise that removing an account erases independent copies you have retained.

Contact and changes

Email [email protected] to ask about access, correction or deletion of account information, or to raise a privacy concern. Do not send passwords, Apple verification codes or private keys. We will update this page when the app's data practices change.
