SignalRoom is a menu bar system monitor. Everything it measures and analyses stays on your Mac. SignalRoom makes no network requests of its own, has no account or cloud service, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code. We do not collect, receive or sell your personal information through the app.
This policy covers the SignalRoom app, the optional SignalRoom Helper, SignalRoom Pro, and this website.

What SignalRoom reads on your Mac
SignalRoom reads the following so it can show it to you. It is displayed locally and is not sent anywhere.
- System measurements: processor, graphics, memory, swap, disk space and activity, network throughput, battery, power and temperature readings, as macOS and your hardware make them available.
- Running processes: the names and resource use of the busiest processes, shown in the CPU and Memory panels. Process lists are not stored in history.
- Network details: the active connection type, your Mac's local IP address and router address. The Wi-Fi network name appears only where macOS provides it to apps; SignalRoom does not ask for Location access.
- Accessory batteries: the names and charge levels of connected keyboards, mice, trackpads and other accessories, as reported by macOS, for the Battery panel.
- Calendar: upcoming events, only after you allow Calendar access. Events are read to display them and are not copied into SignalRoom's own storage.
- Claude Code and Codex usage (Pro): only in folders you choose in Settings → AI Accounts. SignalRoom reads token counts, model names, timestamps, rate-limit readings and project folder names from local usage records. It does not keep conversation text and never reads Codex authentication files or your account credentials.
- Now Playing: the current track, artist, artwork and playback position from supported players, through the optional helper.
- Keyboard shortcut: the Open Dashboard shortcut is registered with macOS, which tells SignalRoom only when that exact combination is pressed. SignalRoom does not see any other typing and does not need Accessibility permission.
What SignalRoom keeps
SignalRoom stores the following in its own app data on your Mac:
- your settings, including the menu bar arrangement, the looks you choose, clock layouts and the world clock cities you add;
- bounded metric history for charts and Usage History, battery history and recent alerts;
- compact summaries of AI usage, such as daily token counts per model and project, so it does not have to re-read large logs each time;
- read-only macOS permission bookmarks for the folders you choose.
We hold no copy of any of this. It stays until you reset it in the app or delete SignalRoom's data (see Support for where it lives).
Network access
SignalRoom makes no network requests of its own. It does not send your system measurements, calendar events, AI usage, settings or anything else anywhere. SignalRoom is signed without permission to make outgoing network connections. The only connections involved are ones macOS makes for you: App Store purchases and restores through Apple, and web pages or email you choose to open from the app.
Optional SignalRoom Helper
The helper reads hardware and media information the sandboxed app cannot: GPU activity, temperatures, fan speeds, disk activity, battery and power detail, and Now Playing. It runs as your logged-in user, not as root, and passes those readings to SignalRoom over a private connection on your Mac. The helper makes no network requests and stores no data of its own. You can remove it at any time; see SignalRoom Helper.
Exports and notifications
An export writes the selected history interval as CSV data or a PNG chart only to the destination you choose in the Save dialogue. Exports are not uploaded and may contain timestamps and system measurements, so review a file before sharing it.
Notifications are off by default. You choose which categories to enable and can set thresholds, sustained durations, repeat cooldown and quiet hours. Alert decisions and recent alert history remain on your Mac.
Purchases
Apple handles App Store payments, restores and refunds. SignalRoom checks your purchase through Apple's StoreKit to unlock Pro and remembers the result on your Mac. We do not receive your payment details or Apple Account details; Apple gives developers only aggregated sales reports.
Support email
If you email us, we receive your message, your email address and any attachments you choose to send, and use them only to reply and to fix problems. Please do not send passwords, private keys or unredacted conversation logs. You can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.
This website
This website uses Plausible Analytics, hosted by us at plausible.woodenamethyst.com.au, to count page visits. Plausible uses no cookies and does not collect personal identifiers; visits are counted in aggregate. Like any website, our server receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page or download the helper, and uses them only to deliver and protect the site. The SignalRoom app contains no analytics of any kind.
Your choices and rights
- Remove Claude or Codex folder access in SignalRoom Settings → AI Accounts.
- Revoke Calendar access in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
- Turn the Open Dashboard shortcut off in Settings → General.
- Uninstall the helper, and delete SignalRoom's app data, as described on the support page.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you have a concern, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new date.
